The figure includes dollars spent on labour and goods and services during construction and over the 15 and half year life of the project, Information released by Compliance as part of the project's federal and provincial environmental assessment process also states that it would create 21 jobs in Port Alberni. Those would comprise two longshore workers, six maintenance tradespersons, four truck facility operators, eight heavy equipment operators and one manager.

Yesterday we prevented 5 BNSF coal trains from entering BC to unload coal at Westshore Terminals. We physically stopped a 6th train on the tracks at White Rock BC at 6 pm, at which point 14 good citizens were arrested for violating a court order not to interfere with BNSF operations.

Thirteen activists, including a Nobel Peace Prize winning economist, have been arrested in a coal train blockade, after Burlington Northern Santa Fe (BNSF) was granted a pre-emptive court order.

BNSF, owned by billionaire philanthropist Warren Buffett, served roughly 40 anti-coal blockaders in White Rock with pre-emptive injunctions this morning from the BC Supreme Court, backed up by a dozen RCMP officers who appeared to be helping them serve court orders by identifying leaders of the group.
