I have a question we should be asking Raven Coal if this has not already been asked?
The question is, "Why can Raven Coal not locate their facility at the old Link Mill site out at Cameron shop area?" This site was built for a mill.
The ground work has been done and the costs to do upgrades for a coal storage facility would be much smaller than a new facility? This would be a better location for the people of Port Alberni and would not have as big of an environmental impact as the waterfront location up for consideration now?
The trucks could use the Arrowsmith Road at the top of the Hump, which would bypass the downtown area.
Other concerned citizens have suggested other locations, and I'm sure the Cameron Link Mill site was mentioned before.
If Raven Coal is not willing to look at different locations like this one or others that have been put out there for discussion as possible alternatives, then maybe there should be one other question asked.
Why not?
