This message is a reminder to vote on May 2, 2011 for the candidate of your choice. CoalWatch Comox Valley Society will not be endorsing any candidates in this upcoming federal election.
The proposed Raven Underground Coal Mine Project is an important issue for Vancouver Island residents. CoalWatch's request for a more rigorous environmental assessment for the Raven Project, a so called independent review panel with public hearings, has garnered widespread public support and the support of numerous local governments.
Unfortunately, the incumbent MPs in the areas most impacted by the Raven Coal Mine Project, (John Duncan - Vancouver Island North) and (James Lunney - Nanaimo-Alberni), have NOT given their support to CoalWatch's call for an independent review panel with public hearings.
Again, this is not an endorsement for or against any candidate, but simply a statement of fact which you may consider when you cast your ballot.
Please cast your ballot for the candidate of your choice on May 2, 2011. Being able to cast a ballot for the candidate of your choice, is not only a civic duty, but a privilege, not to be taken lightly.
Sincerely,
John Snyder, President
CoalWatch Comox Valley Society
